THE FAKES

Royal Observer Corps (ROC)

The rounded crown is a distinguishing feature from known originals. Not thought to have been issued with a slider mount and different slider shapes seen on this badge design.

Machine Gun Corps

A Machine Gun Guards fake. Have never seen this badge in brass, let alone such poorly struck. These originals are always white metal and on a slider mount. Reject lugs unless there are signs of slider removal.

Remounts Service

These first pattern badges are quite scarce. As far as I can tell were always die cast gilding metal, with slider. Reject these die stamped badges. The horse features can be telling, note the details in the snippet of the original badge. Fake horses seem to have gaping mouths and straight saddle harnesses.
