An original French made Italian Independence Wars commemorative medal. 23.6 mm white metal (maybe silver, not tested).
The front with Liberte` and the French Imperial eagle, inscribed "LA PAIS SIGNEE ENTREL'EMP DES FRANCAIS ET L'EMP D'AUTRICHE 11 JUIL 1859" (the peace signed before The Emperor of France and The Emperor of Austria 11th July 1859). Reverse detailing the victorious Italian and French battles at Montebello, Palestro, Magenta, Marignan, and Solferino.
Edge bruises and contact marks, original French ribbon with silver wire edges for officers.
