An original and rare last shako helmet plate of the 50th Regiment of Foot (Queen's Own Royal West Kent).
Gilding metal construction. 87 x 106 mm. Two original lug mounts correctly positioned. Age patina and light polish residue. Very good condition.
The last shako was the 1869 to 1878 pattern. It was worn by the 50th (Queen's Own) Regiment of Foot and others of the British army. This was the final type of shako adopted by the British Army before the introduction of the helmet.
