An original and scarce officer's side cap of The Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC). Bearing the Corps colours of claret red with yellow piping, standard for RAVC officers, along with bullion thread cap badge, red backing with the RAVC’s crowned laurel wreath and central rampant centaur. Inside lining, velvet sweatband, maker label of G.D. Golding (Exclusive Bespoke Tailoring), 220 Hatfield Road, St Albans, Herts. This tailor was active in mid-20th century Britain, commonly used by officers commissioning private uniforms. Suggests custom officer-quality manufacture rather than mass-issue.
Minimal age tones and usage marks, fine condition. Not size marked but appears to be 59/60.
