An original and scarce 'nurses' waist belt of the Queen Mary's Own 18th Hussars. Edwardian period circa 1900-1918.
A two-part, leaf-shaped, clasp buckle. Heavy fret work, gilding, silver plated centrally mounted insignia XVIII H. The buckle is affixed to a white leather belt. Golden thread overly with laurel wreath motifs.
Light staining and age patina to the belt. Edge rubbing. All consistent with use. Very fine and bright gilding. Some losses to the silver plate. 64 cm overall length. Worn by an extremely slim lady.
