Original Edwardian-era British Army officer’s belt plate badge for the Queen Victoria’s Rifles (9th Battalion, London Regiment).
Constructed in silver plated white metal with a detailed Maltese cross design, this badge features a central roundel of St George slaying the dragon, encircled by the inscription “QUEEN VICTORIA’S.” A scroll above the crown reads “SOUTH AFRICA 1900–2” in honour of the unit’s Boer War service. The crown is of Edwardian form, and the reverse retains all three fixings along with the maker’s mark of Hobson & Sons, 1-3 & 5 Lexington St., London W.
A fine and scarce original badge issued to officers of one of London’s most distinguished Territorial units.
