Two original French issue Franco-Prussian War Medals of 1870-1871. Issued to those with combatants service papers.
A 30 mm width, bronze construction. Full body Liberte` (la Republique) in combat regalia. Signed Georges Lemaire. The back inscribed "Aux Defenseurs de la Patrie." Dated 1870-1871. Nice age patina. Original ribbon with pin mount.
Along with a Military Medal, 1870 dated, third republic. 28 mm silver and enamels, gilt finished centre. Trophy of arms ring mount. Enamel loss to the rear blue circlet band, very typical of these awards. Lacks a ribbon.
