An 19th century Bavarian helmet plate. Insignia for the M1861 Raupenhelm, or caterpillar helmet.
50 x 96 mm, cast brass construction. Cypher of King Ludwig "L" under Bavarian Crown. Pin mounts razed to the reverse. Service worn and in very good condition for the age (circa 1860-1870).
