Original Romanian 1913 Balkan War commemorative medal, also known as The Crossing The Danube Medal, awarded to those who participated in Romania’s brief but politically significant campaign during the Second Balkan War.
The obverse features a left-facing bust of King Carol I surrounded by national symbols and the Latin word PACE ("peace"). The reverse depicts the allegorical figure of Victory flying over a marching column, with sun rays over the Balkan Mountains. Suspended from a laurel wreath mount and on the original blue and orange ribbon. The rim punched letter "S".
A well-detailed and historical medal from pre-WWI Balkan affairs.
