Victorian British Army Scottish Officer’s Pouch or Piper’s Badge
Victorian British Army Scottish Officer’s Pouch or Piper’s Badge
An original Victorian-era Scottish badge featuring a bold and deeply detailed thistle design, cast in brass with a gilt finish. This example was most likely used as an officer’s pouch badge, piper’s full-dress badge, or possibly as a belt plate center on Volunteer or Highland regiment uniforms. Probably Royal Company of Archers.
The badge features two original rear lugs, designed for fitting to leather or fabric equipment, not headgear. Its size, weight, and quality of casting distinguish it from standard glengarry or cap badges.
The third upper attachment lug is missing. Approx. 57 mm x 60 mm. Fine condition.
A scarce and highly decorative example of 19th-century Scottish regimental insignia, ideal for collectors of Volunteer Force or Highland dress accoutrements.
