An original British Army voluntary enlistment armband. Issued during what was known as the "Lord Derby Scheme" - the last voluntary enlistment drive before conscription began in 1916. The armband was issued and worn to demonstrate enlistment. To avoid social stigmas.
Khaki wool upper, heavy cotton liner. Red felt Crown applied. Inside with official Army stamps and serial. Two plastic closure buttons. 10 cm width. 45 cm full length. Light mothing marks.
