An original period insignia ensemble of a First World War Royal Air Force and Inniskilling fusiliers veteran officer. A veteran' piece.
32 x 16 cm felt wool panel. On which is hand embroidered Royal Air Force insignia in bullion wire and coloured thread. The initials J.B. assumed to be the veteran, dated 1919. Both flanking the RAF pilot wing. Also featured is the motto of the Inniskilling Fusiliers. Presumably the original unit the officer was attached to before transfer to the RAF. Other RAF insignia is featured along with Imperial Crowns and two wound stripes.
Condition reflects age. Gilded wire colour fade, rubbing and thinning of wool around the edges where it was once framed.
