This is an original and scarce cap badge for the 45th Victoria Regiment, a Canadian militia unit with roots in British Columbia. The badge is made of brass, and it features the regiment’s number "45" beneath a King’s crown, a Union Jack shield, and the motto “Where Duty Leads”. The reverse is stamped by well-known maker J.R. Gaunt, Montreal. One of the two suspension lugs has been cut.
