WW1 German Bavarian Army Pickelhaube 2nd Infantry Regiment
WW1 German Bavarian Army Pickelhaube 2nd Infantry Regiment
This is an authentic Imperial German pickelhaube helmet issued to a soldier of the Royal Bavarian Army during the First World War. Dated 1914 and clearly marked Maker-stamped Hans Römer, Neu-Ulm, along with the mark 2IR (2nd Infantry Regiment) this helmet represents the iconic spiked design worn by Bavarian troops early in the war.
The helmet features:
-
Original leather body with field wear and patina consistent with service age
-
Full brass Bavarian wappen (front plate) with the motto “In Treue Fest” ("Steadfast in Loyalty")
-
Original brass spike and mounts
-
Interior retains part of the original leather liner, though with age-related deterioration. Front and rear visors require re-stitching back to the shell.
This example reflects the wartime construction of these helmets and is a fine piece for collectors of German militaria or WWI artifacts.
Note: This helmet is sold as a historical collectible and is over 100 years old. No restoration has been attempted. It is ideally suited for restoration.
