WW1 Imperial German Prussian Army Pickelhaube Spiked Helmet
WW1 Imperial German Prussian Army Pickelhaube Spiked Helmet
This is an authentic Imperial German pickelhaube helmet issued to a soldier of the Prussian Army during the First World War. This helmet represents the iconic spiked design worn by Prussian troops early in the war.
The helmet features:
Original leather body with field wear and patina consistent with service age
Steel Prussian wappen (front plate) with the motto “Mitt Gott fur Koenig und Vatterland” ("with God for King and Fatherland")
Steel spike (loose) and mounts, non-ferrous rear comb, leather chin strap and steel buckles
Interior retains the original leather liner, though with age-related deterioration. Front and rear visors intact, front with non-ferrous trim
Third Reich era cockade replacement discs
This example reflects the wartime construction of these helmets and is a fine piece for collectors of German militaria or WWI artifacts.
Note: This helmet is sold as a historical collectible and is over 100 years old. Some restoration has been attempted (liner repair and gluing, lace replacement, inside spike mount plate possibly repainted). It is ideally suited for continued restoration.
