A collection of original other ranks cap badges of the Infantry Brigades and Divisional units of the 1st Infantry Division. The Division fought in North Africa, then landed in Italy, 1943, and fought at Anzio, 1944.
The lot includes the cap badges of 2nd, 3rd, and 24th Infantry Brigades.
2nd Brigade: The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire), The North Staffordshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales’s), The Gordon Highlanders.
3rd Brigade: The Duke of Wellington’s Regiment (West Riding), The Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment), The King’s Shropshire Light Infantry (KSLI).
24th Infantry Brigade: Grenadier Guards, Scots Guards, Irish Guards.
Divisional: The Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge’s Own), Reconnaissance Regiment, various units of The Royal Artillery, Royal Engineers, Royal Army Service Corps, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, Royal Pay Corps, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Royal Corps of Signals, and Corps of Military Police.
All badges are authentic period items. The Grenadier Guards badge missing a lug mount, all other mounts on all other badges are intact. A few badges with tarnish marks.
Most badges are of gilding metal and white metal construction. The REME and Corps of Signals badges are the war economy plastic type, issued mid-war until it's end.
