An original and scarce maroon beret of a British Army Parachute Regiment airborne paratrooper.
Maroon wool body. Black leather band. Black cotton lining. Thread tracking where manufacturers label was situated. Fitted with original Parachute Regiment other ranks cap badge. The beret with correct leather badge support on the inside. Two ventilation holes in the side of the beret but both missing the grommets.
The outer quite clean apart from the odd minor stain spot. No visible signs of mothing. The inner liner with mildew stains particularly around the head band section. Consistent with prior use and subsequent long term storage. The back of the cap badge has some green staining. Again a symptom of usage. No other damages or tears evident.
A fine and scarce airborne beret of wartime production. Unfortunately sold without provenance and is not named.
