A collection of lapel badges of some of the Red Cross and nursing associations operating during Second World War period and thereafter.
Each badge with lugs and cotter pin, or pin mounts.
1. Three Saint Andrews Ambulance Corps and Association cap badges. 26 mm with lug mounts and cotter pins (supplied), two of gilded bronze and one of chromed alloy, with enamels. Maker marked T. FATTORINI GLASGOW (chrome), J.R.GAUNT LONDON (both bronze).
2. Three St. John Ambulance Brigade and Association lapel badges. Two in white metal and enamels, with pins, both maker marked, 25 mm and 27 mm. One steel and celluloid Cadets badge. 25 mm, with pin. Worn to front.
3. A General Nursing Council for England & Wales membership badge. Silver and enamels. 27 mm, pin mount and neck chain attachment loop. Reverse etched: A. M. Drummond S.R.N. #126454, 23-06-44.
4. A British Red Cross Society Voluntary Aid Detachment (V.A.D.) lapel badge. 20 x 33 mm, gilded alloy and enamels. Enamel chip above "A" of VAD. The British Red Cross Society Voluntary Aid Detachment offered support and relief services nationally and overseas. 1960s-70s vintage.
