Original 1943-dated dark navy blue wool beret worn by a member of the Royal Marines during the Second World War. The beret is complete with its correct brass Royal Marines cap badge, mounted on a red wool backing, which was standard for the Royal Marines throughout the war.
The interior is marked with the broad arrow War Department stamp, size 6⅞, and “JALPOTEX LTD. 1943,” a known wartime manufacturer. The beret features a black leather sweatband and intact drawstring. This is a genuine and desirable WW2 Royal Marines item, representative of both conventional and Commando units of the period.
This original beret is in excellent condition both inside and out.
